Helsinki kids dress in royal red short-pile velvet
For little girls who love beautiful dresses, here is our Helsinki dress, made from a magnificent royal red velvet . This elegant fabric is perfect for a party dress. To add lightness and refinement to the design, we have added a pretty collar and cuffs in embroidered tulle .
For the collar, this hack requires a lace trim twice the length of the neckline bias binding provided in the pattern. Gather the trim to the same length as the dress neckline (you can roll the ends), then attach the lace between the dress bodice and the neckline bias binding. The same process was used for the sleeves, from which we shortened the length by a few centimeters.
All the supplies needed to make this dress are available in our online shop. The Helsinki pattern is available in sizes 6 months to 4 years for babies, and from 3 to 12 years for children. The short-pile velvet comes in royal red and absolute black. The embroidered and scalloped tulle trim is sold by the meter, and the pretty gold shank buttons are sold individually. Happy sewing!

Gatsby is a high-quality jacquard, woven in France. We were captivated by the contrast against the black background and the depth of its bronze floral motif with a moiré effect. Its beautiful drape and medium weight make it ideal for creating lightweight jackets as well as trousers, dresses, or blouses with a straight cut.
