Slipped stitches are hand stitches. They make it possible to close openings, hems or biases by making an almost invisible seam, by stitching successively on an edge then on the one opposite.

It allows for a neat finish and avoids the use of topstitching that is too visible on the machine.

As a preamble, thread a short and fairly fine needle with a thread of the same color as the fabric.

  1. Stitch the edge of the fabric to be closed
  2. ..from outside to inside
  3. Stitch out the opposite edge
  4. Pull the thread to make the first stitch
  5. Repeat the previous steps by making stitches evenly spaced.
