How to view and use layers in a PDF pattern?
Some ikatee patterns now include layers (to date the Quimper, Jasmim mum, Liverpool, Adelaide, Brisbane and Brisbane kids patterns).
We will explain to you why these layers are interesting, how to display the dedicated menu and how to display them.
To open your PDF patterns, we recommend using a recent version of the free Adobe Acrobat Reader software .
1. Why use layers in a PDF pattern?
You choose the pattern size(s) to display. You can select a single size , then print, assemble, and cut directly.
This is already possible when you use our PDF files by size.
Using layers also allows you to select multiple sizes, for example, if you want to grade between two sizes. You can therefore print the pattern lines in 6 and 8 years, for example, and trace them as you wish.
We therefore strongly recommend downloading all files and saving them in a specific folder on your computer. With Ikatee, you're only allowed five downloads. You can create a folder in your email to find them, but most importantly, make sure to save your files to your computer.
2. How to use layers in a PDF pattern
Download the latest version of the free Acrobat Reader software. Let yourself be guided, it's simple:

To display the menu bar, click on "View" at the very top of the menu, then select "Show/Hide", then "Side Panels" and make sure that "Layers" is selected

On the right, in your sidebar, the "layers" icon is now visible. It looks like 2 pages on top of each other.

By clicking on the layers icon, on the far right, all the "layers" of the file are displayed: there is a "little eye" in the selection square.
Once the "Layers" panel is open, clicking in the boxes will allow you to show or hide a layer.
Note: The first and last layers named "Info" and "Background" must always appear.
To display only size 11 years for example, click on all the selection squares with an eye to deselect them, except on the one corresponding to "11A" where the image of the eye must be displayed (here circled in orange on the screenshot):
On the pattern pages, only the pattern lines corresponding to the selected size are displayed.
For the rest of the printing, nothing changes: prefer the "Poster" mode with a scale of 100% (the "print at actual size" option is not checked in your print settings).
