The essential vest
The basic, straight cardigan is an essential item in the whole family's wardrobe. Ikatee has therefore made it available in all size ranges: Vega, from 1 month to 4 years, Vic, from 3 years to 12 and Vic Mum from 34 to 46. To be used on all outfits (dresses, jumpsuits, pants, jeans, skirts, rompers...) whatever the season, these patterns will allow you to achieve sportswear or ultra chic looks depending on the materials chosen.
There are several options available for this model. You can play with the length (mid-hip or mid-buttock), but also with the neckline finishes (bias or facings with a contrasting fabric) and the bottom of the jacket (hem or added band).
These patterns are completely accessible to beginners, especially since they come with an assembly video.

Patchwork inspirations

Vic's hack details: for Vic (which will work just as well on Vega or Vic mum), you just need to very simply redraw the sleeve: draw two perpendiculars at the bottom of the sleeve from the ends of the sleeve head. This widens the sleeve by several centimeters at the bottom of the sleeve. Slip an elastic into the hem to tighten the bottom of the sleeve. And optionally, round off above and below the button placket to be able to add a bias binding in one piece.

Sewing tips
Vega, Vic, and Vic Mum are beginner-friendly patterns. You can make them in a wide variety of fabrics, including knits and wovens: sweatshirts, French terry, Milano knit (Ponti Roma), thick jersey, fleece, jersey or quilted fabric, denim, jacquard, honeycomb, and down jackets.
It is also possible to add a lining to the Vega, Vic, and Vic Mum vests. This option wasn't originally included in the pattern, so it was a beginner's level, but for those who want to get started, everything will be explained very clearly.

Consider matching sewing thread, bias tape for the neckline, interfacing for the button placket, buttons or snaps for the closure, and two small labels: one for the size and the other to add a sweet note. You can add a pretty iron-on patch to personalize your project to the very end!
